I started drawing spirals several years ago, for the pure joy of drawing, doodling, without thinking about content or narrative. The spiral is a symbol laden with meanings from all over the world, over centuries, an icon that belongs to all of us. Sometimes I add an illustration, a field of color, to contrast with the spiral: a duality, a conversation. During my artistic process, sometimes the spiral becomes some other curved linear shape. The drawings on top are done in ink and gouache, on paper, about 23x29 inches. The ones on the bottom are smaller, from notepads.
